So I was sitting here drinking an Irish whiskey and I had an idea for the surrender mechanism. It's the future, so I thought some sort of tractor beam to move a ships crew to your holding cell. It's really the only way we're going to have non murder interactions with ship stealing pirates. Even with permadeath the majority of the population is going to fight to the death, and that is horribly unrealistic.

First, game money: Buying small starter ships for starting out with real money makes sense, but luxury ships good for status displays seem best paid for with game money that isn't available quite yet.

Second, practice acquiring and managing crew. Some ships might work with minimal staff, but a luxury ship calls out for strong support. Knowing what players and non-players might work and how to manage them requires a whole set of skills.

Third, practice flying as part of a fleet. Luxury ships are commonly going to need escorts, supply ships, and transports. Knowing how to fly and jump with others in a coordinated way is going to be needed.

Fourth, three words: Star Kitten Livery.

All of the things they showcased that were amazing , seemed to require bigger ships with atleast some cargo capacity. With buying ships only coming in 3.1 , im starting to get scared that , there still wont be that much to do for people with smaller ships only.

Carrack vs Endeavour

Come November I want to buy a nice ship. To sort of be the centerpiece of my fleet. Primarily I like the exploration side of things, more from a discover and research stand point then just mapping or looking for stuff to sell. I pretty much had my heart set on Carrack. But then I see the base Endeavour is actualy the same price.

Carrack pro : comes with everything in tough neat package, very good looking. Con: Anvils dark clunky aesthetic, hull locked snub with no Q drive.

Endeavour pro: big hangar supposed to fit 2 cutlasses, detachable cab. Con: may be too big, looks ungainly and vulnerable, can science pay the bills? have to chose and buy modules.

If anyone has gone through this decision process or has thoughts please weigh in.

Loaded up Star Marine for the first time and I noticed its almost completely devoid of colour, not even the warning or caution signs have colour and those are usually bright yellows and oranges.

I've noticed this is an overall trend with the universe as well. Everything seems to be very toned down or greyscale compared to the vibrant ship pictures and fancy screenshots of planets they've been posting recently.

So we have 3.0 coming up which is exciting, but with everything we will get in 3.0, what is the MVP of features and content that is considered a full game by Robert Space Industries? Obviously it's all the solar systems etc. But is there an official list of what is considered MVP for a "full game"? I certainly hope they have such a list, because if they aren't sure of what they want to accomplish for a full game, we'll never see one (Project leading 101).
