Possible uses of the Carrack

Hi - I want to discuss possible uses of the Carrack. I have thought of a few different ideas and would like to hear your opinions:

1) Exploration (obviously). The Carrack is a dedicated explorer, so it will definitely be able to do exploring.

2) Cargo hauling. It may not be designed to do so, but I think it could be used as a decent cargo hauler if you use it's 3 modular pods for cargo.

3) Command ship for smaller military operations. If an Idris is too big to send, I imagine the Carrack could make a nice command ship given its sensor arrays and holo table for planning.

4) Scout / lookout for larger military operations. I think the Carrack might be able to lead the way for larger operations. Using its advanced sensors to possibly find new ways behind enemy lines, og to scout ahead and find the enemy fleet before it finds you.

5) The Carrack should have a medical room, so I imagine it could be used as a floating hospital. It might not be the best use of the ship, but I think it could earn a bit on the side on a slow day.

Obviously performance is one of the biggest things holding people back from really enjoying the SC experience. I understand a lot of the big changes aren't happening yet but I was under the belief some changes might be done to improve what we are currently working with.

Is this true and have any Evocati reported improved performance at all?

So in all realism, we know there won't be an unlimited amount of players in an instance, so it's safe to say you won't always have people near you on planets. Well, say a scenario happens where you leave your ship in orbit and you somehow die on a planets surface, let's assume you spawn back onto the planet surface near where you died with no vehicle. I think it would be cool to be able to call a local towing service via your mobiglass. I'd say it should first contact nearby players across multiple instances besides your own, so that providing there is someone in that system in the game in any given instance, at least one person who meet the pre reqs to accept the Mission will be given it. Then instead of some stupid auto ai service bringing your ship down, they'd have a player driven experience that could be exciting. Then of course, if by some chance there is absolutely no one in the system in any instance, it could default to the ai bringing the ship. I think this concept could work in multiple fashions, ex. Distress calls, refueling emergencies, star ship House parties etc.

What do you guys think? Stupid idea or workable?

However, not but 10 minutes later I was banned out of nowhere. Is Star Citizen culturally appropriating Elite Dangerous?

As many of you older backers might remember, Star Citizen did not have plans to have procedurally generated planets before the $41m stretch-goal. Moreover, at start, planets were supposed to have "landing zones" as a way to interact with them, not the whole surfaces.

This has now changed after the patch 2.6 as the big focus of the whole 3.0 release is going to revolve around 3 procedurally generated moonlets.

For those that do not know, Elite Dangerous has been huge a success as a niche space game. One of the biggest elements of Elite has been a huge galaxy with around 400 billion star systems, all procedurally generated. As Elite released planetary surface exploration in the 2016 patch 2.0, that is some serious area for players to explore in.

Is the SC'c sudden shift to create these procedurally generated moonlets a way of culturally appropriating Elite Dangerous? Could it be that CIG has seen the massive success Elite has, and wants to latch on to Elite's distinctive selling points and ideas to further their own product, in a way "fetishizing" Elite?

[Wishful thinking] The gameplay experience I want

I'm sure we all have different ideas about what we want out of this game.

Some of us want to dogfight, some want capital ship combat. others want to haul cargo, more want to be mercenaries, bounty hunters or explorers.

I have a very specific thing I want to be able to do. I wanted it in Mass Effect, I wanted it in Elite Dangerous, I even wanted it in Star Trek Online.

I want to have a fairly large ship, fly into orbit over a planet, then fly a shuttle or landing craft from the hangar bay of that ship down to the surface, drive around or walk around, complete missions, then come back to my mothership when I'm done.

That's it. that's all I want. I honestly can't name many games that have managed to pull that off!

My scheme as it stands is to carry a freelancer -inside- an Idris. Keep the idris in space, it can technically land on planets but as we saw at gamescom, it's ill-suited to landing anywhere but a big flat landing pad.

Use a nox for getting around planetside. If I can find a ship that fits inside the idris that can carry an Ursa, use that instead.

I'm really curious whether a Connie can fit in the Idris's bay...I mean, overkill for a planetary landing craft. but it doesn't look too big from the size-comparison charts I'm seeing. depends how much internal space the bay takes up.

Title. I bought lots of Hornet to Freelancer (and vice versa) upgrades, because they're free. I used one a few days ago, going from Hornet to Freelancer, and now I have both ships. I can use both in universe, and I've been even playing a lot of arena commander using the Freelancer's weapons on the Hornet.

This is not the expected behaviour, right? Should I contact someone about this? I heard that you wouldn't be able to use ship upgrades anymore once 3.0 hits, and I don't want to lose my Hornet or accidentally have two Freelancers.
