Making $ in 3.0

Hello

I don't have access to 3.0 right now so I'm stuck pouring over all the content endlessly until it releases. Question:

I have an Avenger Stalker and a Vanguard Warden, so I can't hold cargo. My friends have ships that hold cargo that we intend to use to make money. When we sell the cargo, is there anyway for me to actually profit, or will the funds from the sale go to my friend?

The Cutlass Brown. Swapping the manned turret for a manned toilet.

I was looking over the Cutlass Black, trying to find a place for my bucket and wipes, when it occurred to me that the turret room would work well as a toilet if only the darn gun weren't in the way. It got me thinking that I would willingly swap out the firepower of the turret in exchange for giving the ship longer range. It seems a reasonable trade-off in terms of ship usability, and a relatively easy change to create a whole new ship variant.

And so I propose: the Cutlass Brown, long range armed transport. Remove the manned turret, add in the toilet/shower asset from the Herald, and extend the ship's lifesupport/operating range. It's a GOLDEN opportunity.

I had a mission last night to go retrieve a crate from a Constellation wreck in an asteroid cluster near Delamar. I loaded up my Cutlass and made it to the wreck with no issue. I was the only on there it seemed, so I got to work. Popped the side door and started making trips to the derelict, returning each time with a shiny new box.

I have about 6 crates at this point so I go back to get the objective crate and GTFO. I pick up the crate and on the way back to my ship I see another Cutlass pull up alongside mine. Their side doors open and I see two Jackwagons EVA out, heading straight for my ship.

I land in the cargo hold and draw my trusty SMG, sending my box flying to the back of the hold. I waste the first boarder and then take cover and reload. I kill the second one just as he lands in the hold. My shields protected me from incoming fire into the hold.

The pilot, seeing his two friends become space trash, opens fire on my ship. I run for my objective box and bail out the side of the ship, dodging laser fire all the while. I reach the derelict without being ventilated, but im not safe yet. The enemy pilot destroys my ship and then begins to look for me among the wreckage. Just as he moves to look for me a Gladius comes out of nowhere and starts pounding him. The fighting moves away and I make an SOS.

A pilot responds but radios again shortly saying its a no go. Navigation issues(Mobiglass bug). Thats fine, I've got plenty of 02...wait, no I don't. I make the SOS again with no response. My o2 indicator begins flashing red. Suddenly a Reliant shows up, there to search the wreck for the black box. I explain my situation and he agrees to ferry me to Shubin, if he has the fuel for it. I hop in the Cargo hold and stay there for the duration of the flight, I'm not putting this fucking box down after all that.

We made it safely to Shubin and when that door opened to reveal that sweet, sweet surface I was so relieved. I thanked my savior profusely and then waltzed right into that outpost to collect my paltry reward.

I'm participating in the PTU at the moment and if you zoom waaaay out on the map, you'll see Thurston and ArcCorp there. But every time I go to fly there, it says out of range. I'm guessing that travel to these places hasn't been implemented yet... but if it has, does anyone know how we get there?

I bought the game a few days ago because 3.0 finally talked me into it, but didn't buy sub, not really realizing I would not actually be getting 3.0 for a little while. After finding out that the base 2.6.3 game is pretty boring, I caved in and bought a sub, and my god 3.0 is phenomenal!

First thing I did was go shopping, 25-30fps constant, so shopping was a breeze. Near the end I started to get some CPU spikes but no big deal really. Got myself the biggest ship I know of (Andromeda) and headed out into the great beyond without even looking at controls. I managed to get to Yela, boosted towards the planet not realizing the the waypoint I had chosen was on the other side, so crashed into the planet with 910m/s, and promptly bounced 8km upwards. Survived somehow, got it to land, and then realized I was on the "boring - if pretty - side" and wanted to fly somewhere interesting. Mobiglas wouldn't show me any waypoints for some reason, so decided to leave the planet and QT to Daymar instead. Somehow managed to QT to the boring side of that, too, and the OM beacons dissappeared from view, so I ended this trip by removing my helmet and spacing myself.

This is probably a boring story, but to me that was a phenomenal first hour! I can see why everyone is so hyped :D

Let's Discuss the Glaive and Its Issues

Hi everyone! After owning the Glaive for some time and continuously believing that CIG would fix the issues with the ship each patch, I decided that it’s time to make a post. I will preface this by saying I love the ship but it seems as if CIG has abandoned it. Now the Glaive was sold as a limited and brutal ship and while it is both of those things it is also a brutally broken ship. Issues and missing textures have plagued the experience in this beautiful ship for quite some time and the launch of 3.0 PTU has made some of them far worse.

The smallest but most annoying issue in my opinion that has been present for several years would be the fact that the underbelly is missing both textures and collision. The texture issue can be seen here. Even though this issue is minor it has been present for at least 2 years and hasn’t been addressed in the slightest. On top of the texture issues there is also a
that has been present for quite some time as well. The Scythe has this same issue but as hardly anyone owns one, it hasn’t been addressed either. The enter animations along with the wing flap animations have been broken since 2.6. The enter animation issue is by far the most apparent bug with this ship besides the ones in the 3.0 PTU right now. This from 2.6.3 showcases this issue which is still present in 3.0. Before 2.6.3 the wing flap animations would be properly animated when maneuvering and when 2.6.3 went live only one worked and now with
, neither of them work.
with the wrath cannons has also been an issue for quite some time and hasn’t changed in 3.0 PTU.

Now while these issues aren’t that bad, 3.0 PTU has made the ship unworkable and unplayable in some ways. The biggest issue by far is the fact that when you get in the ship you cannot exit it once you power it on. You are essentially locked into the ship until you die as the exit prompt does not work. On top of that when you fire the wrath cannons, the ship goes invisible while in first person. The ship also spawns in with clipped landing gear that makes it lose control occasionally when taking off. The Mobiglass issue from when PTU first launched is still present when in the
and when damaged, the ship’s parts and light entities stay attached when there is nothing to be attached to. Also when in quantum, the effects are present in the cockpit, which is quite visually unappealing. I know there are other issues with this ship but I wanted to point out the most glaring ones currently.

I want say that I am not making this thread to bitch but to rather bring light to these issues, as some of these have been present for years. I love this ship and want to start a discussion to ask what everything thinks about it and the issues that it is currently facing. As I said before, it seems that both the Glaive and Scythe have been abandoned by CIG and as these ships are important in SQ42, it is quite confusing as to why nothing has been fixed with them. I really hope that everything that I showcased is fixed by the launch of 3.0 but I am doubtful from what has happened in the past. Hopefully someone at CIG sees this thread and addressed these issues before launch.

Edit: Before anyone says to post these on the issue council, I have and the reason I am posting this is because some of these problems have been reported before and nothing has been done about them.

Goodbye, BMM?

TLDR: The BMM’s huge now, and while I know it’s too soon to decide one way or another, it might be too much to start off with.

I bought the Merchantman a few years ago during an anniversary sale (back at the $250 mark), and though a lot of people are talking about what a great bargain it is now that it’s practically a capital ship, I’m not so sure that’s a plus. I know plenty of people are upset about the change since they wanted a fast clipper ship the way I did, but to be clear, I’m not upset at all, I’m just thinking it may no longer be the ship for me, and I’d like your advice.

Caveats: Many of the mechanics and gameplay dynamics which will determine the experience of running a Merchantman aren’t yet in the game, and we barely have updates on the thing, so that’s not what I’m basing my decision on. I’m trying to compare the roles I know I enjoy in other games to find a good fit in SC

The pros: The Banu lore is really cool, they’re described as being a sort of free-wheeling anything-goes people with your value determined by what you’ve made of yourself in the here and now, and their ships are supposed to be super hardy, self-sufficient, and ornately crafted. The Merchantman may end up being a very flexible platform and a great center-of-operations for a small org, and stylistically it might be unparalleled (at least from what we’ve seen from concept art). Being a traveling merchant could be really cool, trading and collecting low volume / high-value items like weapons, armor and clothing, “pharmaceuticals”, pets, and rare flora.

The cons: The Merchantman is now enormous. Taking it anywhere might be a production and it might need escort. It’s unclear if it’ll feature any kind of role flexibility, and while flying bazaar sounds very Blade Runner cool, I’ll need a team of players to run it by the sounds of it, which might just be too much hassle in the beginning.

The roles I’m into: I almost always prefer support roles in combat. I’m typically the healer, the repair and resupply person, the buff / debuff character, or a character doing crowd control. I really like double dynamics like heal / debuff, and I’m typically either the tank holding a point or the healer keeping the team going.

Ideal ship in Star Citizen (I think): Medium-sized (2-3 crew) scanning / science vessel which scans moons, planets, and pockets of space for high-value minerals or flora, possibly in dangerous places, then lands to collect and analyze samples in an on-board science station. Sell sample location for others to harvest with ships or outposts. For combat, I’d prefer support, though I don’t think SC has combat support roles outside of Ewar, and that’s not implemented yet. S&R is also on high on my list, but honestly it’s looking like any ship with a decent scanner and indoor space could handle that.
