Hi Citizens, I’m fairly new (like this week), and I’m curious if kitchens and showers in ships have (or will have) use within the game. I know you can log off on a bed (cool concept). I’m guessing engine rooms will have usage as well.

Solo Carrack Perspective

First, this is all completely theoretical.

The main point of this is to see if this idea of future gameplay seems valid to anyone else.

With that said:

I own a Carrack, and I'm a solo player. Well, mostly solo. I intend to play with others when I can, however I don't want to hinge my gameplay experience on them being available and logged in. From what I've seen and how I intend to play, I feel like the Carrack, while utterly massive for a solo player and absolutely intended for multi-crew gameplay, I'm hoping it will be completely viable solo with NPCs.

Here is why:

My main gameplay loop is (in theory as it hasn't been developed yet) exploration. Even as a solo player I feel it will be a completely BA home in the stars for this type of play. As a solo player, I enjoy having a primary gameplay mechanic but also enjoy dabbling in a bit of everything. Having NPCs crewing the ship, even if they aren't as good as a player allows us (solo peeps) to fly the bigger ships in the game.

While, I understand, or at least I've read but may not be true, that you cannot have an NPC fly your ship, having them man the turrets and potentially other small gameplay mechanics while in flight is going to be an absolute blessing I'm looking forward to being able to take my time and experience all of the other gameplay mechanics the Carrack offers.

A day in the life.....

I wake up in my Captain's Quarters somewhere in the black of space, take a quick shower and head to the mess for breakfast (or at least my first meal). Shortly thereafter I make the rounds checking on my NPC Engineer, walking through my Pisces, crossing the catwalk above my modular cargo pods, make sure my Ursa is secure and in place, and then walk through the Armory to ensure we have enough supplies for whatever we may encounter today. (Totally not in order, but you get the idea).

Prior to setting a course for the day I stop by the crew quarters to check on the rest of my crew and make sure they are all happy and ready for another adventure. With that, I head up to the cartography room to get an idea of where we should go in search of new things and new treasure!

A bit later I make my way down to the bridge, tell my crew to take their positions, and we start our next journey.

Our first stop happens to be in an asteroid field where we've discovered a rich mineral deposit. We log the location and prepare to continue our journey. Unfortunately, while navigating through the field I bump into a wildly spinning asteroid and damage part of the ship. Finding a place to part, I order my crew to the guns and I make my way to the drone bay. I send a drone out and quickly fix the damage before continuing on.

Our next stop takes us to a small unknown planet-side ping. Leaving the Carrack in orbit, because I don't intend to waste fuel if I don't have to, I hop into my Pisces and begin the decent down to the surface of the planet. Quickly, I realize it is a long abandoned and potentially full of loot ruins from some long dead civilization. I land and hop out raising my weapon just in case something doesn't happen to still live here. I poke thorough some of the buildings in my vicinity and decide it would be worth it to bring down the Carrack. I gather up a few small finds into the Pisces and prepare to head back into space.

I return with the Pisces and begin the decent back to the site of the ancient ruins. We land as close as we can, but unfortunately we are still a decent clip away. I tell the crew to man their guns and have one follow me. We make our way down to the Ursa and in a short time have pulled up to the ruins. With my NPC guard watching my back, I search through the buildings and gather as much as I can onto the Ursa. We make several trips and find a good amount of loot. Additionally we keep the scan data to ensure we can sell the location when we return to civilization. On our last trip, as I'm gathering some of the last remaining trinkets, I hear gunfire break out. I exit the building to see some large beast on top of my NPC guard who is trying to push it away with all of his / her strength. I raise my weapon and fire off a few rounds taking down the animal. My NPC guard is too wounded to move so I drag him / her into the Ursa and floor it back to the ship.

Once again on the Carrack, I drop the back ramp and drag the NPC to the elevator. We head up to the Habitation Deck and I drag him into the Med Bay. Laying him / her on one of the med beds I begin performing rescue medicine on him / her. Before long, he / she is stabilized but it will be a bit before he / she will be ready for action again. I move him / her to one of the non-emergency beds and make my way to the bridge.

I'm sure I could go on for much much longer, but this post is already turning into a book. If anyone makes it this far, thank you for suffering through my terrible writing. I'm obviously excited by the possibilities this game represents. From what I know and understand about the future systems this entire story should be possible.

I hear that this patch is gatling heaven. I personally loved the old flight model days when canons were king. Is it balanced now and based on personal preference? Or is using gatlings a do or die kind of thing? I am a joystick pilot so gatlings arent that great for my combat style.

Ejected from the ship, Now ship comes with no seat and is unusable

So I accidentally ejected from my Sabre the other day near Everus port. Applied the "backspace Suicide" and went to claim the ship back, however now it spawns without a seat and therefore is unusable, I can only open ladder and canopy and cant get in it.

Have tried to go to a different station and claim it there, but the same happens, the ship spawns with no seat.

Anyone knows a way to fix this?

Character creation after exiting game

I just played SC earlier today. I bought the game a long time ago, but haven't had the time to really get into it.

When logging off, I went to the bed in my Aurora ship, and then proceeded to log off. Coming back to continue playing later, after choosing "Universe", it now goes through the character setup, though I already have a character.

I read some posts about this being a bug, and that it only changes the character look, but not the actual progress, and so I just quickly setup a new character.

Now, when I get to choose the destination, how do I know what to choose? I'd like to just get back to where I was, and not spawning at Stanton System, or anywhere else for that matter. What do I press here? I'm afraid that if I press Stanton System, my old character progress would be gone :/

Can’t retrieve my ship - need your advice.

So right after the 3.10 PTU dropped I logged out to do some work. Came back to a few missing weapons and a Cutlass Black that won’t retrieve.

I’ve been to different stations both planetary and orbital from Microtec to Crusader. I’ve tried buying cargo, ship doesn’t even appear in the location list. Tried different regions repeating all the above.

Time for a character reset or put it away till 3.10 drops and see what happens?

A lot of people dread the 30k error message and especially those of us who trade or go mining. So I think it would be a fun community think tank if we all came up with an idea to allow cargo persistence and also made it balanced.

For my idea. The aim is to have cargo persistence(cargo linked to ship instead of the server) always on but have instances where the cargo would be linked to the server instead for a set period of time. Some examples would be getting shot by another player, perhaps this could be something like a 5-minute timer(I'm just spitballing times). Another trigger would be if another ship was within a set range of you. The final trigger would be directly after buying cargo, that would only last a few minutes.

Ideally, this would stop any possible abuses of cargo persistence and punish those who would try to abuse it. Whilst simultaneously reducing the major drawbacks of a 30k error. Thoughts? I'm curious to hear everyone else's ideas.
